Cleaning can be Fun?

I love a clean house that everything in it has a place where it belongs. Unfortunately when you live with 2 guys who could care less how clean things are or where something goes, and work alot it can be hard to find the motivation to clean or organize anything (maybe that's just me though).

On Sunday I woke up with the realization that I had to try to clean even a little.  I usually just sleep till Adrian is ready to get up but I thought I'd take this "alone time" to get some stuff done. So when I got up I washed my face, walked the dogs, ate, and brushed my teeth. When I know I'm staying home I usually just throw on whatever is closest to me but thought I'd go a different route this time. My clothes usually reflect my mood so I thought I'd put on something fun and easy to move around in.

This is what I ended up throwing together. I started with my bloomers (because they're almost shorts only alot more comfortable and roomier), then layered on a couple of petticoats (they're sheer so I got plenty of "air") and topped it of with a casual tee, some stockings and practical shoes. You can't really see my bloomers but they're sherbert colors: yellow, orange, pink and green and have rainbows and stuff on them which is why I went with those stockings.  I wanted my hair out of my face but still wanted a fun hair style so I made 2 odangos and pinned up my bangs. This isn't something I would really wear out of the house (I don't have that much confidence yet) but that's why it was so much fun to put together. I was able to make an outfit that would make me happy even though it was something I wouldn't normally wear. You don't have to only wear fun or pretty clothes out of the house you can wear clothes that you wish you could wear or something that you're not yet comfortable in yet to "take it for a test drive". Who knows it may change your mood, give you a little extra confidence or just satisfy an urge that you had to put it on. Just make sure that what you want to wear is ok to get dirty if you're doing something like cleaning, like me. I wore my apron to clean so I wouldn't completely ruin my clothes. It matched my outfit so it made me that much happier   *(^o^)* I really would like another cute apron so that way I can have one for cooking/baking and for cleaning but I'm really glad I at least have this one because it has definitely protected my outfits many times :)

I think my outfit did just the trick because after I was dressed I felt ready to take on the world (or in this case our messes). I headed to the kitchen put on some loud music and got to work. But don't worry I still did lots of singing and twirling (one of the reasons why I love a good flowy skirt). I didn't get everything done but I'm proud that I did anything at all. Guess my outfit helped ;P What do you like to wear when cleaning? Do you feel different depending on what you have on? Love to know...
Well it's Friday so I can't wait till after 5pm for my weekend to officially start.
Wonder what the world has in store...

Random Haul

After two days with family we were drained Saturday morning so we slept in pretty late. Adrian had been looking up reviews for some pizza joints in town because pizza is my favorite food and I always want to eat it so he thought we should try a new place.

The place we ended up at was close to downtown. We usually never go downtown because one ways are confusing and we get lost WAY too easily but since we've gotten new phones (w/Internet) our navigation has come in handy :)

The pizza was delicious. I got two different slices; a two meat one and a supreme. The crust was thin (but crispy) and the toppings were plentiful. Both were really good, will definitely be going back.

Afterwards we stopped at a few places to look around and right before heading home we stopped at Tuesday Morning because it had been a while since we last went. This place is awesome, if you have time and energy to look around because you never know what you're going to find and the prices are discounted :)

Here's the stuff I ended up getting that day

(3 Pk) Knee Socks w/Bonus pic of Kazama
Froggy Retractable Tape Measure (been needing one)
Tea Pot Pin Cushion (So cute and it matches my room so I can keep it on my dresser)
And last but not least: Collection of Pandas (They're so adorable. Going to use some as display and might make some into accessories)
Everything was very reasonably priced and I really do love all of the things I got. Sometimes the things you have to look for end up being some of the things you'll cherish most ;)

I also saw a very cute miniature pastel tea set and wanted to get it for my niece but my husband said unless I found something for her brothers (x3) that I had to put it back because it wouldn't be fair :( I'm not good with boy stuff so I reluctantly put it back in exchange for the pandas. Even after a few days I couldn't get my mind off the tea set so yesterday on my way home from work I stopped at the store again and told myself that if it wasn't there then it wasn't meant to be (there was only one set) and then I could forget about it.

After some searching I found it *(^o^)*

It really is super cute and I can probaly get some kind of use out of it so I'm keeping it for me ;)
Put it on display on my dresser (I switched up the plates and cups to mix match because I like it better than all one color)
Now, I want to have a tea party with my niece. We can get all dressed up and invite all of her stuff animal friends (*-*)

The rest of Saturday was spent lazing around the house which was fine with me after all the hustling and bustling. And I'm also very happy with my purchases (^-^)

Do you have a place you like to go and find odds and ends? Or somewhere you like to go to kill sometime? Love to hear about it...

2nd Thanksgiving

This year my family got together Friday for Thanksgiving. I'm really glad because it gave us the whole day to hang out. Family time is really one of my most cherished times and almost all of my siblings made it out :)
My Little Brother's Bday was on Wednesday and my Step-Mom's was Thursday (Thanksgiving Day)so I surprised them with a cake and of course we sang Happy Birthday :)
More Thanksgiving food... Oh yeah! Kinda want more now

To get everyone in a more thankful mood we cut out some paper and everyone wrote down what they were thankful for. I then strung them up with some ribbon for display
Close up of some of them. That ribbon came handy. I bought it for a dollar at Michael's a while back and matched really well :) Ended up a great back drop for pictures, which I made everyone take ;)
And my outfit shot. These are cell phone pictures so they didn't come out that great -_-
I wanted to dress festive so I busted out my fall colors. Of course my family was like why are you a pumpkin when it's Thanksgiving. I told them that pumpkins are fall not just Halloween and Thanksgiving is Fall ;P
Dress (Hautelook - Jack, BB Dakota) Undershirt (Marshall's) OTKs (F21) Cardigan (Old Navy) Shoes (Shoe Dazzle)
Bonus: I usually don't put my family's pictures here but my Nephew is too cute and getting so BIG :)
I can't believe we are in the last week of November and I know it's going to fly by and we'll be in the New Year (o_o) Have to try to make the most out of every day then ;) How did everyone else spend Thanksgiving? Did anyone else had a double Thanksgiving? Love to hear about it...

Halloween Wkend Pt 2

Although Christmas just passed and I still have lots to post. I decided to post these Halloween pictures I haven't been able to show you guys since I haven't had a computer (besides my work one).

The Saturday before Halloween was a big day for festivities; especially for us adults ;) We woke up late as usual, and needed to head out to run some errands. I was too excited for what the day had in store for us that while getting ready I couldn't help but start picking an outfit that reflected my Halloween mind. I wasn't sure if I would wear the hat I made the night before but went ahead and did it because I knew I probably wouldn't get another chance.

Dress (Plato's Closet - Xhilaration) Jacket (PacSun years ago - DC) to keep my jacket closed w/out zipping it I added the Googly Eye Bow (DIY - A modified version of the Hello Kitty Bows I made for my nieces bday party; I will eventually get around to making a tutorial) Stockings (Leg Avenue) Boots (Sheik) Necklace (F21) Hat (DIY)

Stockings pic from my POV :)

When we got home from running around we got ready for our first Halloween activity; Houston's 5th Annual Zombie Walk! My husband heard about it last year and with his love for zombies (mostly killing them. lol) we knew we had to go this year. It was our first time, but definitely not our last :) We had to get ready in a hurry since we were running late, but I still think we did a good job. I was originally planning to wear one of my old cheer leading uniforms but it ended up being really cold so I changed my outfit at the last minute. It was kinda inspired by Shiro Lolita :) I definitely stood out in my all white, and he just went with the same costume he used for the zombie party we had for his brother. There were so many good costumes; I realized later that the costumes with more blood looked a lot better so next year I will go super bloody.

Got this pic when we got back home before we washed up and changed

*Update - My friend found this picture of us during the walk. lol
Adrian (my husband) got his costume idea from Black Ops. lol
Leela and Fry Zombies
They won Best Zombie Family.  Pretty cool parents :)
Heading out to infest the streets
Me attacking an Umbrella Corp guy. lol
The walk was about 4 blocks down a busy street and 4 blocks back. We really got into it and were grunting and dragging our feet. A lot of the other people were just walking normally and laughing and smiling but I think that if you're dressed as a zombie and doing a zombie walk it's only appropriate to play the part; so we did just that. A few of the other walkers made comments to us about our dedication to play the part and husbands reply was "Well, we paid for this so we're getting our moneys worth" lol. My fingers were numb from the cold but surprisingly I wasn't really cold, I think because it was such a work out. Keeping your hands up and dragging your feet. We were sore for 2 days after, lol. When the walk ended we headed back home to get ready to go out again.

Going to break the day in two parts since I have so many pictures.  Check out Part 3 for more Halloween fun!

Thanksgiving Day

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite Holidays (although I pretty much say that about all of them ;P). When you're in a serious relationship things like holidays can sometimes get tricky. So, me and my husband divided the main holidays. Thanksgiving is for his family (since it's the one time a year his Dad's side of the family gets together) and mine is Christmas (because I love Christmas).

So on Thursday we went to his Uncle's house for Thanksgiving. It was wonderful, I always enjoy getting together with family and his Little Sister and Fiance were able to make it down from Dallas :)

As usual, the decor was very festive. I always feel so fancy ;)
And of course there was plenty of food
My Plate: Salad, Turkey, Ham, Spaghetti (his family is Italian so his Dad makes it every year. It's very good), Yams (I made them), Green Bean Casserole, Stuffing and a roll, I also made a couple of Pumpkin Cheesecakes but I forgot to take pictures (oops) It was delicious though (not jut my thought ;P)

Since my husbands family is a little more appropriate I dressed in something a little more classic though still very me. And got a chance to wear my new shoes :)

Dress (Marshall's) Cardigan (Old Navy) OTKs (Sock Dreams) Shoes (bought off EGL Sales)
My family FINALLY decided to hear me out and we decided to have our Thanksgiving on Friday. Which was great, so we didn't have to rush over to my family's and instead got to go visit Adrian's Mom's side of the family :) There we got to see his Grandma and Aunt (who stays in Dallas). They even played Loteria (Spanish Bingo) and I decided to play since it had been a very long time and I won 4 times in a row! Then on our last game (w/$1 cards) I won with another girl so I took home an extra $8.50 :) I never have much luck so it made me very happy

Once we got home we relaxed to get ready for another family filled day the next day...

Outfit Post #12

This past weekend was one of those ones that go by quickly. You don't really do much but yet somehow it's still productive. lol

Friday we stayed in and watched 2 paranormal activity movies back to back. We still have the 3rd one to watch before we go see #4 in the movie theater. I am really not one for scary movies. I'm already very easily startled so after watching a scary movie my awareness levels go up by 100% and and my paranoia doubles. Paranormal activity isn't a very scary movie but I won't lie that after watching them I still found myself looking around because I saw something out of the corner of my eye. And taking a shower later was hard. I feel my most venerable in the shower. There you are naked and cornered with no where to run while you close your eyes for long periods of time. I had to repeat to myself several times that it was just a movie o_o (yeah, I know I'm a scaredy cat)

Saturday we slept in late as usual :) This is what I ended up wearing that day

Shirt (Gift) Skirts (F21 & Wet Seal) Stockings (EBay) OTKs (SockDreams) Jacket (American Eagle) Hair Clips (F21) Haven't worn this shirt for a very long time. My brother had it custom made for me and gave it to me for my birthday. (It says "whomp whomp muthafucka" lol) This was when I was still in high school. I thought I'd throw it on and put together a casual co-rd. I also had a big pink hair bow that I had made but I took this picture around 2am after we got back from Adrian's friends house. Unfortunately the hot glue I used to attach the hair clip fell off later that night :( Guess I need some better adhesive. It was a good day and we also took our dogs to the park to play in the afternoon but they were disappointed that they didn't get to swim (it was a little too cold).

Sunday was a kinda lazy day. I didn't get up till around 3pm. We did our shopping for the week and I even got a little bit of cleaning done. I didn't get a picture of my outfit but I was proud of the fact that I dressed for me again. I just need to get better at taking pictures (and remember to clean the mirror before I take them) lol

Thanksgiving is already coming this week, and I can't wait. I love all of the food and family, and it's a double plus that we get a 4 DAY WEEKEND! Going to be awesome. Hopefully I'll have lots to show :) Hope everyone has a great Turkey Day!!! Gobble, Gobble ;-P

Black & White

Just a quick outfit post. Nothing special but I really have a thing for black & white :)

Wore this to run some quick errands on Saturday

Dress (Plato's Closet - Xhilaration) OTKs (Sock Dreams) Jacket (PacSun) Boots (Shiek)
Panda Earrings (AsianICandy) Hair Bow (HEB) Purse (? - But you can find it on Ebay)
And on Monday I actually dressed in something other than pants for work so I could be productive
(Ahhh! I'm Headless! lol)

Top / Skirt / Necklace (F21) Boyfriend Cardigan (Target) Stockings (Sock Dreams)
Rest is same as above
I love colors, don't get me wrong. But there's just something so awesome about black and white together. Maybe because they're so opposite, or because they go with anything or it's probably just because it reminds me of pandas :) Not really sure but I just can't get enough. This will not be the last post you see with those colors. ;P LOL!

Karaoke Time!

This past Sunday we celebrated my Little Sister's bday (which was Friday) at my brother's place with a little get together.

We have a lot of family so we sometimes get together very often. To make the day feel a little more special for her I busted out my boxes of party decorations and went to town. We made it a karaoke party since Little Sister loves to sing (although so do me, my Mommy and Big Sister). You can see the final decoration results here.

We all had a great time as usual and really enjoyed each other's company. We ate brisket sandwiches, chips and chocolate cake. Then busted out the karaoke machine. As always we acted really silly and the day got away from us before we knew it, which meant the next day would be work :(

Me singing on the left and the print of my awesome dress on the right. When I saw the details of the print (Pandas! Planets! Flying Unicorn (Pegasus)! Cupcakes! and the Outer Space!) I knew I had to have it and it's now one of my favorite dresses :)
The Birthday Girl (Little Sister) and Me (W/My Moustache)
And my outfit shot :) I tried something new to my hair but it didn't come out that great. I've always wanted to do a hair bow but I think I have too much hair because the center part never holds :( So i tried to do a bow and two odangos. Havn't quite mastered it yet, but practice makes perfect ;) Dress (Ebay - Hell Bunny) Shirt (American Eagle) Stockings (Sock Dreams) Bracelet (Hot Topic - actually a choker) Earings (AsianICandy)

I love karaoke so much. I still have a long way to go in terms of actually sounding really good but it feels great to sing alog to a song you like with all the emotions and energy that, that song deserves. One day I hope to master either the song I am not my hair or Get it together (both by India Arie) I love listening to her music but those songs always hit home for me and make me feel good about myself. Do you like karaoke? Is there a song you want to master? I'd love to hear them :)

Okie Dokie! Take it easy...

"What's in a name?

That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet"...   huhuhu

This past Saturday I was lucky enough to attend my little brother's play. He was playing the lead in Romeo and Juliet. I joined my big sister, her kids, my dad, step mom and all their kids (yes, lots of family. lol)

Although it was only a high school theater production and their first one (this is the 1st year the school opened). I had  a really good experience and would love to go see another play or better yet a musical :) Some of the kids in the audience needed some manners in how to act when watching someone giving their all in their performance (I'm looking at you there in the front laughing and taking pictures with the flash on) but the performers stayed in character for the most part and my little brother did great. :) He looked so handsome, and delivered all of his lines. I was quite proud.

Didn't get many pictures with my phone
Afterwards we headed over to the small carnival they had going on in the parking lot to benefit some of the extra curricular activities for the school. Since I didn't have to pay my entrance fee to the play (Thanks, Daddy :)) I decided to use my $5 there. I bought a bottle of water ($1) and gave a go at the pie toss ($2), which I hit the girl right in the face ONLY the pan turned around at the last minute so the foil hit her instead of the whipped creme :( lol. Then, I bought some sweets at a tent where they had everything 50% off since it was coming to and end. I got 2 cupcakes, 2 cookies and 1 rice crispy treat for $1. The last dollar I spent getting a couple of my little sisters faces' painted. $5 well spent :)

My pie tossing attempt
The carnival ended around 2pm which was perfect because as they were putting up it started to sprinkle so we all said good bye and headed home. I spent the remainder of the day singing karaoke, making some crafts and watching The King and I, while my husband went to visit his friend. It was a great day and I knew that Sunday was going to be awesome too.

Below is what I wore to the play. It was my first play so I wanted to dress up but not too ott, since I didn't want to embarrass my siblings. (They said I actually looked "normal". Yay! Mission accoplished.) Dress (Marshall's) Cardigan (Old Navy) Socks (Sock Dreams) Shoes (ShoeDazzle) Necklace (F21)

Sunday we all met at my big brothers house because our Aunt was in town from Honduras. It was so good to see her and my Uncle again. Since they stay so far away we usually see them every few years so this meeting was long over due. It was a lot fun as usual (it usually always is when family's in the mix) and we got lots of pictures together. When she first saw me my aunt said I changed a lot (i said Thank you, as I take that as a compliment) and that I seem to be getting younger. lol Maybe ;P She has such a great sense of humor (so that's where my mom got it) and we really enjoyed all the time we got together. It was sad when she left but since she's going to be in town for a few more months while she gets knee surgeries (both knees) we'll get more chances to see her before she leaves.
Above is what I wore on Sunday. I knew that there would be lots of running around so I dressed really casual and tried a new hairstyle :) Undershirt, Shorts, OTKs and Necklace (F21) Cardigan (Target) Shoes (Journeys - Harajuku Lovers)

The weekend went by WAY too fast as usual, although that extra hour couldn't have come at a more perfect time. Work week has started once again and I'm looking forward to the weekend as usual. Wonder what's next...

Halloween!

So.... I was planning on posting Halloween Wkend Pt. 2 next but since so many of the pictures are in my camera; I decided to post Halloween first since I do have those pictures on my phone. :)

The night before Halloween we finally got around to carving our pumpkin. It's been a few years since we've carved one so I was excited. When I got back from work, I dressed for the occasion since that's what I do to get me more into the mood, plus I had this outfit picked out ahead of time ;P

Shirt / Hat / Bracelet (DIY) Skirt (Exotic Caberet) Stockings (Sock Dreams) Boots (Sheik)

OMG! I forgot how much time and energy goes into carving one of these bad boys. Probably didn't help that the tools that came with our kit kept bending and we didn't shave down the inside of the pumpkin enough. lol. It was still fun but next year we're using better utensils and designing our own picture. This one said it was 2 out of I think 4 or 5 pumpkins on difficulty but it was HARD. I kept cutting the tip of my ring finger. It didn't come out perfect and one of his fingers was cut off but still pretty good :)

Here it is lit up :)
I ended up really liking the way my outfit came out so I decided that I would wear it to work the next day (Halloween).
Here's a picture with my Beautiful Co-worker Kari :) She's AWESOME!
We didn't do anything special this day and only got 2 trick-o-treaters (who were a friend's kids) LOL! But it was still a good day and I actually got to bed early :) Looking forward to the weekend again. Gotta love them ;P
